FAQ
What is a group break?
A group break is a way for multiple collectors to share the cost of a box or case of cards. Instead of one person buying the entire product, participants each purchase a portion, or “spot,” in the break. Once the box or case is opened, the cards are distributed based on the specific break format being used. This allows collectors to participate at a lower cost while still having a chance to pull high-value cards. There are several common formats used to divide the cards, each offering a different approach to how teams, players, or card types are assigned.
TYPES OF BREAKS
Pick Your Team (PYT)
In a Pick Your Team break, participants select the team they want before the break begins. This format is commonly used for new product release days. Team prices vary based on the potential value of cards that could be pulled for each team.
Be sure to review the break description for details on which cards are included and will be shipped.
Random Team Style
In a Random Team break, all spots are priced the same. Before the break starts, teams are randomly assigned to each participant using a third-party randomizer. In some cases, two teams may be combined into a single spot. This is typically done for teams that have fewer cards or lower hit potential in the product.
Random Divisions
This break format is similar to a Random Team break, but teams are grouped by division instead of being assigned individually. In football breaks, spots are divided by NFL divisions such as AFC East, AFC North, NFC South, NFC West, and so on. When the break is opened, participants receive all cards pulled from the teams within their assigned division.
Random Hit
In a Random Hit break, each participant is guaranteed one hit. After the product is opened, all qualifying hits are recorded in a list. A randomizer is then used to assign one hit to each collector. This format ensures that every spot receives a hit from the break.
Draft Styles
In these break formats, every spot purchased is guaranteed to receive a hit.
Random Hit — All cards are opened and the qualifying hits are documented. A randomizer is then used to assign one hit to each participant.
Live Hit Draft — All cards are opened and the hits are identified first. Participants are then placed into a draft order using a randomizer. Each person selects their hit in the assigned order. Participants must be present or available during the break to make their selection when it is their turn.
Random Serial Numbers
This break format is commonly used for high-end products such as Flawless and National Treasures, which contain a limited number of cards per box or case. Each participant is randomly assigned a number using a randomizer. That number corresponds to the first digit in the card’s serial numbering. For example, if you receive number 10, you would receive cards numbered 10/10, 10/25, and similar variations.
The total number of spots available is based on the product itself. Because there are more spots, this format is typically more affordable. However, with more participants, the chances of receiving a hit are lower compared to other break styles.
Personal Box Break
We offer individual boxes for purchase on our website, referred to as Personals. When you buy a personal box, it will be opened live online just for you. Be sure to review the product description carefully, as some boxes do not include base cards for shipping. This helps reduce shipping costs.
If you purchase a break it option, the box will be opened live on your chosen platform, such as YouTube, eBay, or Whatnot. Break it purchases are opened live only and are not shipped sealed.
Break Rules
Non-Pro Logo / Unlicensed Cards – NFL Guidelines
Cards will always be assigned to the team or city printed directly on the card. For example, if a card lists Buffalo, it will be assigned to the Buffalo Bills. If no team or city is listed, but the player is shown wearing a recognizable uniform or color scheme, the card will be assigned to the team represented by that uniform. For instance, a Josh Allen card showing Bills colors or a Bills-style uniform with no team name would go to the Bills.
For multi-player cards that do not list a team or city, assignment will be based on the overall theme of the card. As an example, a card featuring Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones with no team listed would be assigned to the Kansas City Chiefs, unless otherwise specified on the card itself.
If an official product checklist exists and assigns a card to a specific team, the checklist designation will always take priority over these guidelines.
Collegiate / NIL Card Rules (NFL)
If a card features a player who is already part of the NFL, the card will be assigned to that player’s current NFL team. If a break is run by NFL teams and a card is pulled featuring a player who has not yet been drafted or assigned to an NFL team, that card will be assigned to a designated collegiate or non-NFL spot included in the break.
Please make sure to read each break description carefully, as any product-specific rules or exceptions will be clearly stated.
MULTIPLAYER CARD RANDOM RULES
Some products include cards that feature multiple players or teams. When these cards are pulled, they are assigned using a randomizer. However, a majority rule applies. If one participant owns more than 50% of the teams or players shown on the card, that participant will receive the card. For example, owning 2 out of 3 teams or 3 out of 5 teams would qualify as a majority.
LIVE BREAKS
All breaks are streamed live on YouTube, eBay, and Whatnot. If you’re unable to watch live, a replay will be available to view after the break. All videos are uploaded once the break has been completed.
GOING HITLESS
We do not know what cards are contained in any box or case before it is opened. Because of this, it is possible that a break may not produce a hit for your team, and in some cases, your team may not receive any cards. This is an inherent risk of participating in group breaks and should be considered before purchasing a spot.
REFUNDS
All refunds are subject to a 5% cancellation fee. Refund requests will not be accepted once a break has taken place or on the day of the scheduled break.
